How We Set Health Initiatives: Community Health Assessments
Henderson County conducts a Community Health Assessment (CHA) every three years. Through comprehensive data collection, analysis and community engagement, the CHA identifies key health needs and issues in the county. In turn a Community Health Improvement Plan is created as a guide to address the identified Health Priorities.
Henderson County is one of the Healthiest in Western North Carolina
According to the 2025 County Health Ranking and Roadmap, Henderson County fares better than average in the state and in the nation. The health of the county is our ability to thrive, our quality of life, and our ability to contribute to the community and world around us. Health is more than clinical care and being free from disease and pain. Population health is a combination of our optimal physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being.
The WNC Health Network, through their initiative, Western North Carolina Healthy Impact, provides support to the local health department throughout the Community Health Assessment cycle for community health improvement.
